Step back in time to an artistic, historic wonderland of cartography, dating back to the 15th century. Fascinating depictions of a world that at once thought California was an island and which allows you to be just inches away from Ben Franklin’s DNA on his rare 18th-century map of the Maryland-Pennsylvania border. These maps tell our planet’s story by blending colorful artistry and the “not always exact” science of man’s first navigation methods. Admission is always free and no donations are accepted. Guided tours are available upon request for schools or private parties (minimum of four). This stimulating venue is also the perfect backdrop for events or meetings, providing guests with an unique world view. Open 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesdays & Thursdays and 1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month. LaJollaMapMuseum.org
