Get ready for a spooktacular evening as Oceanside Sunset Market transforms into the Haunted Market on Oct. 31! This beloved Halloween tradition will take place from 5-9 p.m. on the evening of the actual holiday. Haunted Market will offer a free family-friendly experience filled with treats, tricks and ghoulish delights. According to MainStreet Oceanside, it promises a festive atmosphere with a lineup of exciting activities. The evening kicks off with a kids’ trick-or-treating event for children under 12. Families are encouraged to arrive early, as the trick-or-treating will continue until all the candy is gone. The newly expanded market, now including an additional 38 spaces for vendors and entertainment options stretching from Coast Highway to Freeman Street, including Artist Alley, is open from 5-9 p.m. Thursdays all year. WHAT: The La Mesa Village Association (LMVA) invites the community to take part in their 6th Annual Halloween in La Mesa Village event that features family-friendly trick-or- treating in downtown La Mesa. Dress up in costume and bring your trick-or-treat bag to collect goodies from participating businesses who will be handing out treats along La Mesa Blvd. and adjoining streets.
There will also be fun, Halloween-themed stilt walkers cruising up and down La Mesa Blvd. interacting with everyone – perfect for a selfie! And the La Mesa First United Methodist Church will host a free “spooky” organ concert at 4:45 p.m. playing a variety of Halloween-themed tunes. The church is located at 4690 Palm Ave.
Guests can also enjoy spooktacular decorations at a variety of businesses, including Team Z Realty who features a free selfie booth with an over-the-top theme – this year is “Moana”!
The 3rd Annual Howl-o-Ween Pet Costume Contest returns and promises to be bigger and better than ever! Presented by Melissa McCune, Realtor, pet owners are encouraged to dress up their pet(s) and bring them down to the Fountain Courtyard area next to the La Mesa Blvd. Trolley Station located at Spring St. and La Mesa Blvd. (near The Yogurt Mill).
The Pet Costume Contest will feature a variety of categories, including Scariest, Cutest, Most Creative, Funniest and Best Pet/Pet Parent Combo. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category.
Bonus – the first 50 attendees will receive a FREE Boo Bag gift! There will also be a free photo booth, vendors sharing treats for the pets and their families and all around good, homegrown fun for all. It all takes place between 4 – 6 p.m.
Shops and restaurants will also be open for business and visitors are encouraged to explore the variety of stores and eateries available while you are here for the festivities!
