Show your appreciation of Mom by treating her to panoramic views of San Diego Bay at elegant restaurants and casual eateries — all with outdoor dining options — at the Coronado Ferry Landing! Savor exquisite Mexican dishes at Costa Azul, fabulous Italian at Il Fornaio and wonderful Hawaiian at Peohe’s! Casual dining options include Spiro’s Mediterranean Cuisine, serving authentic Greek fare; Lil’ Piggy’s Bar-B-Q, serving Memphis-style ribs, smoked wings and corn fritters; and Village Pizzeria Bayside, cooking up made-to-order pizzas, calzones and pasta dishes. Don’t miss live music 2-5 p.m. Sundays.
Treat your mom to a special Mother’s Day dinner at Blade 1936 in Oceanside. Stop by from noon-3 p.m. for an open menu or from 4-9 p.m. for a three-course set menu (pictured) on Sunday, May 12. Call or text (760) 420-8883 to reserve your spot. Blade 1936 serves Neapolitan style wood-fired pizza, freshly prepared pasta and succulent seafood as well as creative cocktails in a celebrated historic newspaper building. Originally home to Oceanside’s Blade-Tribune newspaper from 1936 to the 1960s, the space was revitalized by the new owners, who paid homage to its journalistic history in the restaurant’s name, decor and menus. Pizzas are all made with imported Italian flour, tomato sauce and cheeses, as well as oil made from olives grown in Italy. Pastas include Italian classics such as Pappardelle alla Bolognese, and Linguine alle Vongole. Open at 4 p.m. daily.
Celebrate Mom at Casa Guadalajara in Old Town, San Diego! Mom’s love is like the restaurant’s food: spicy, warm, and wrapped in a tortilla. Treat her this Mother’s Day to the best Mexican cuisine, where every dish is made with the freshest ingredients, including homemade salsas and hot-off-the-grill flour tortillas. Diane Powers’ popular Old Town restaurant known for festive décor, breezy outdoor dining and famous birdbath margaritas. Beautiful dining rooms and a patio reminiscent of a gracious Mexican hacienda await you. Old wooden gates, sparkling fountains, colorful Talavera tiles, and al fresco dining under a grand centuries-old California pepper tree create a truly memorable experience.
