Spend the summer exploring with the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum! Six exciting weeks of Little Explorers Summer Camp are offered and activities include exploring the deep blue sea, practicing paleontology skills, creating colorful masterpieces, and so much more. Each day of camp includes access to Museum exhibits, hands-on exploration with trained education staff, and an opportunity to make new friends. Campers entering Kindergarten-entering 3rd Grade (4 – 8 years old) may register now for full weeks, set for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. June 17-Aug. 2. Kids in Grades 1-8 are invited to Summer Camp at the Japanese Friendship Garden an Museum in Balboa Park! Grades 1 & 2 are set for June 24-28; Grades 3-5 run June 24-28 and Grades 6-8 will have camp July 8-12. Sessions are half-days and topics include Calligraphy, Taiko (art of Japanese drumming), Koto (Japanese harp), Ikebana (create a work of art using flowers, leaves and branches), Yukata Dressing (sometimes described as yukata kimono, a type of summer kimono) and more. Budding entomologists or zoologists will love fun camp themes like “Insect Investigators” and “Animal Mysteries.” Kids will also dig “Paleo FBI” and enjoy diving into a “Deep Sea Adventure.” Other sessions will see youths conduct hands-on experiments and explore the Museum’s science departments. The Nat has four floors of exhibitions, a giant screen theater, and a research collection of more than 8 million specimens. Soar into summer with hands-on fun at at the San Diego Air & Space Museum’s In-Person Camps running weekly from June 10-Aug. 2, 2024.
