Escondido’s oldest and most famous event — The Grape Day Festival — will return Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Grape Day Park. The festival will feature activities and entertainment steeped in Escondido history and traditions: spinning and weaving, corn shelling and grinding, butter making, grape stomping, early-century vehicles and antique equipment, along with live swing jazz and bluegrass music. Band leaders Charles McPherson and Gilbert Castellanos bring some of the most beloved charts from Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie to the Rady Shell stage, featuring a band made of up of some of the top jazz players in the U.S. Celebrate the best in jazz at this concert, set for Sept. 9.
