Every Tuesday in February, museum instructors will read a story to celebrate and recognize the achievements of African Americans in our country. Pictured above is "Ellington Was Not a Street." In this children’s book, Kadir Nelson illustrates Ntozake Shange’s poem “Mood Indigo.” In the poem, Shange remembers her childhood home and the important cultural figures and innovators who gathered there, including W. The Grand Tea Room in downtown Escondido has reopened for dine-in service! They've cleaned, sanitized and disinfected pretty much every square inch of the tea room. They've painted inside and out, organized and ordered all the items we need to be in compliance with County requirements. But more importantly they have done all this for the safety of their employees and customers. They will be wearing masks and customers have to wear masks until they are seated.
