Gideon Klein's ebullient and lighthearted String Trio was composed while the composer was imprisoned. Beethoven charted new ground in celestial music that baffled his contemporaries. Celebrate the Circle of Life at the Toro Nagashi Festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden Enjoy the Japanese custom Toro Nagashi, the floating lantern celebration, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11-12. The Japanese Friendship Garden will have various performances in addition to merchant booths for guests to enjoy. The Living Coast Discovery Center will host its 14th annual Farm to Bay event on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The unique tasting event, set inside the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Chula Vista, brings together some of San Diego’s favorite local food and beverage purveyors to support coastal wildlife, education and sustainability programs at the nonprofit zoo/aquarium.
