Savage Gardens “The Real and Imaginary World of Carnivorous Plants”
July 1 – October 29 Explore the bizarre and captivating world of carnivorous plants with this fascinating exhibition. In addition to a collection of real carnivorous species that feast on insects, get a bug’s-eye perspective with three larger-than-life installations inside and around our 8,000 square foot, glass-enclosed Dickinson Family Education Conservatory. Featuring multiple Sarracenia Trumpets, a walk-in Fanged Pitcher Plant Nepenthes, and a moving, interactive Venus Flytrap, all installations are constructed with aluminum and resin offering incredible interpretations of these unique plants. From late summer to early fall, DPR conservatively opens a 6-mile out-and-back trail in a secluded part of the Ramona Grasslands, named the Old Survey Road 97 Trail. Old Survey Road 97 Trail* is open Saturdays and Sundays between Aug. 15 to Nov. 15, from 8 a.m. until sunset - and only to visitors who’ve completed a quick tutorial and secured their temporary permit.
