Savage Gardens “The Real and Imaginary World of Carnivorous Plants”

July 1 – October 29 Explore the bizarre and captivating world of carnivorous plants with this fascinating exhibition. In addition to a collection of real carnivorous species that feast on insects, get a bug’s-eye perspective with three larger-than-life installations inside and around our 8,000 square foot, glass-enclosed Dickinson Family Education Conservatory. Featuring multiple Sarracenia Trumpets, a walk-in Fanged Pitcher Plant Nepenthes, and a moving, interactive Venus Flytrap, all installations are constructed with aluminum and resin offering incredible interpretations of these unique plants. Old 97 to Reopen

From late summer to early fall, DPR conservatively opens a 6-mile out-and-back trail in a secluded part of the Ramona Grasslands, named the Old Survey Road 97 Trail. Old Survey Road 97 Trail* is open Saturdays and Sundays between Aug. 15 to Nov. 15, from 8 a.m. until sunset - and only to visitors who’ve completed a quick tutorial and secured their temporary permit. Golden eagles have been seen foraging in the area, and it’s for their protection that we keep it closed during nesting season.
