Studies have shown that electric bike riders burn more calories on average due to their ability to ride longer, further and conquer hills they wouldn’t attempt on a non-electric bike. Choose from several Pedal Assist options ranging from 20 percent-100 percent assistance up to 20 mph (28 mph with a Class 3 upgrade) in conjunction with your pedal power to customize your ride to your needs. On a minimum setting, for example, a 749 watt motor may provide an average of 20 percent assistance to the rider’s energy output, with the next step up at 40 percent, and so on. Once pedal assist is engaged, a little extra power propels the bike forward, making it easy to go long distances and climb any hill. In addition, a cyclist can activate the throttle, which is a secondary way to access the motor, used best in conjunction with pedal assist. The throttle can also be used in throttle-only mode; if needed, a cyclist can always activate a throttle for 100 percent battery power. Nasty headwind? Tiring at day’s end? Use the throttle-only option mode to get back home!
