This do-it-yourself dog wash in Ocean Beach is the answer to your doggie care dreams. They provide the tubs, aprons, shampoo, washcloth, towels, brushes and more, and you provide the scrubbing love. The best part: They clean it all up and your dog leaves cozy and clean, while your car and home remain the same. For more specialized grooming needs there are assorted shampoos and conditioners based on the dog’s coat, blow dryers, fluff box dryers, grooming tables with a Clipper Vac® and a dog-friendly staff ready to do nail trims, or to teach you how. The owners started what’s also known as OB Dog Wash because of their love for Dog Beach and the need to wash their canine companion daily, due to the dog’s skin problems. When they bathed him at home, it took over an hour to clean the bathroom. A load of laundry later, they never felt he was really clean enough. They knew there had to be a better solution for dog-lovers’ grooming needs. And so the concept of a clean, friendly and affordable Dog Beach Dog Wash was born. With thousands of satisfied customers and more than a half-million washes provided, they hope to continue bringing joy and good health to local dogs and their guardians for many baths to come.

As community-minded beach-goers, the owners of Dog Beach Dog Wash also launched the “Friends of Dog Beach” in 1995, a group of volunteers dedicated to preserving and enhancing Dog Beach and improving the water quality of the San Diego River and the Pacific Ocean for dogs, people, birds and aquatic and marine wildlife. The public is invited to join them on the second Saturday of every month from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. (plus the third Saturday in September for the California Coastal Cleanup), to help remove debris from Dog Beach. They provide bags and gloves for humans, and toys and treats for dogs.

Dog Beach Dog Wash in Ocean Beach is conveniently open 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m., seven days a week with nail trimming 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Last wash is 30 minutes before closing.
