Bet on a great time watching Thoroughbred horse racing “Where the Turf meets the Surf” at Del Mar. Hosted by the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club at the iconic Del Mar Racetrack, the annual summer racing season starts Friday, July 18 . Catch the races Thursdays through Sundays and Labor Day Monday through Sunday, Sept. 7. The season features the nation’s top racehorses, trainers, and jockeys, and lots of fun in the sun. First post most days will be 2 p.m. First post on Fridays, after Opening Day, will be 4 p.m. with the exceptions of Aug. 15 and Aug. 22, Aug. 29 and Sept. 5, when the first post is 3 p.m. Highlights of the summer meet include the Opening Day Hats Contest, the Del Mar Beer Fest on July 19 (enjoy top-rated favorites from the local brewing scene), the signature $1 Million Pacific Classic on Aug. 30 and Family Fun Day on Aug. 31. At its 2025 fall meet Oct. 30-Nov. 30, Del Mar for the second year in a row will host the Breeders’ Cup, the fourth time overall the track has been home to the world championship event. The two-day racing extravaganza offering 14 championship races and more than $34 million in purses and awards will be presented Oct. 31-Nov. 1. delmarracing.com
