Altisima Winery
Drink in the views along with stellar wines and Spanish-fusion cuisine at this hilltop Temecula winery
Elevate your wine-tasting experience at this Spanish-inspired spot perched atop a plateau, which yields soaring Temecula Valley views. The newest destination on the De Portola Wine Trail, the modern-designed Altisima features delicious dishes, a casual atmosphere, and, of course, stellar wines.
Open since November 2021, the winery is a passion project shared by a few families. The name “Altisima” is a nod to the plateau and the lofty views it offers from every direction. Aside from the stunning contemporary architecture, open air decks and lounges, world-class restaurant and tasting room, the winery also offers live music on weekends, guided estate tours and specialty dinner events.
The airy tasting room, with its long bar and knowledgeable team, invites guests to saunter up and sample. Altisima‘s red wines range from light sippers to robust blends, while whites and rosés are crisp, refreshing and pair perfectly with Southern California summers. Choose from Spanish and Italian varietals, including Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Grigio, Garnacha, and a Champagne done in the French method. Enjoy five pours for $30 or or simply by the glass.
Savor delicious Spanish-fusion cuisine, including tapas, sangrias and wine cocktails bursting with flavor at the winery’s gorgeous restaurant, Gaspar’s, with both indoor and al fresco dining on the expansive terrace overlooking the vines. Nosh on shareables such as charcuterie and cheese with jalapeño jam, fruit, nuts, olives and crostini; Catalan Gambas (sautéed shrimp, garlic confit, spicy saffron sauce and crispy bread); Golden-Fried Cauliflower Florets; flavorful Herbed Fries seasoned with sea salt and Aleppo-style pepper; and fork tender grilled Spanish octopus. Main courses include fresh salads, as well as hot off-the-grill favorites like the juicy Altisima Burger topped with all of the fixings, including caramelized onions, bacon, and house-made sauce; as well as a California Chicken Sandwich; and Gaspar’s popular ribeye steak.
Pair any of these palate-pleasers with the restaurant’s many sangria or wine cocktail options that are also perfect for enjoying with friends. The Berry Sangria, Peach and Mint Sangria, and Leading Lady with prickly pear syrup and coqueta, for example, all have varying levels of sweetness. For a (literally) next-level experience, join the Wine Club and relax at the Members’ Lounge upstairs — both comfortable and chic with a fireplace and covered patio. Members also enjoy wine, restaurant and merchandise discounts, complimentary tastings and exclusive invitations to events hosted by the winery’s owners.
Altisima Winery welcomes guests on a first-come-first-serve basis in its tasting room, restaurant, and Members’ Lounge. Reservations for Gaspar’s are currently offered to Wine Club members only, given the restaurant’s popularity; however, parties with up to eight guests in the restaurant can be accommodated with no reservation required, as space allows. Larger parties may email reservations@altisimawinery.com to discuss options.
As part of the De Portola Wine Trail, Altisima Winery and its 10 neighboring wineries collectively host two of the most anticipated tasting events of the Temecula Valley Wine Country season each year.
A feast for the senses with a welcoming vibe, the winery and restaurant open at 11 a.m. daily. Find Altisima on the De Portola Wine Trail at 37440 De Portola Road Temecula. Check out special events, live music and more information at altisimawinery.com or by calling (951) 422-2525.
