Passport to San Diego
On a recent Saturday evening, I took my parents, my son and his friend to San Diego Skateworld to watch a women’s roller-derby match. We had front-row seats and had never attended a roller derby event. It was easy enough to follow, although I myself, do not see the desire to get bumped and bruised for any reason. There was music, a halftime show and a drawing, where I actually won a nice gift basket! I think the kids would have enjoyed watching the kids’ junior derby. We stayed afterward for the Saturday evening (public skate) session, where the crowd did the limbo and had a lot of fun. It was more of an adult crowd than when we skated during previous daytime sessions. San Diego Skateworld is now open until 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturday! Admission is $7 and skate rental is $4. Lace up your skates and get rolling! Call (858) 560-9349 or visit http://skateworldsandiego.com/ for the full skating schedule.
