Temecula, CA – April 30, 2023
A steady, gentle breeze, sunny skies and winemakers beaming with pride welcomed myself and more than 750 guests to the De Portola Wine Trail at Big Red Fest in Temecula. The annual event hosted by nine, privately owned wineries takes place on a particularly scenic stretch of horse farms, rolling hills and charming vineyards on De Portola Road.
A huge undertaking, the sold-out wine tasting and food pairing event allowed excited guests to spend the day sampling three (or more) robust wines at each winery. I couldn’t help but be amazed by the flow of happy guests in and out of so many locations but never having to wait for wine or food for more than a minute or two. Inclined to linger at each, I made my way along the trail knowing there was so much more to see, smell, taste and hear ahead. In addition to a very affordable ticket price, event organizers responsibly provided a designated driver ticket option that included food only for those not imbibing in the amazing variety of wines offered at the festival.
Not to worry, if you missed this lovely day of tasting and mingling, most of the featured varietals and many, many others are available to enjoy every day in tasting rooms and through their respective wine clubs. Keep an eye out here for more events, festivals and wine festivities to come from these down-to-earth, approachable, extraordinary wineries on the De Portola Wine Trail: ALTISIMA WINERY, FAZELI CELLARS, ROBERT RENZONI WINERY, GERSHON BACHUS VINTNERS, OAK MOUNTAIN “CAVE” WINERY, LEONESS CELLARS, DANZA DEL SOL WINERY, FRANGIPANI WINERY, COUGAR WINERY, SOMERSET WINERY & MASIA DE LA VINYA WINERY.
