Master chefs dazzle guests with their samurai-like swordsmanship as they skillfully slice, dice, juggle, and entertain, while preparing entrées on a sizzling Teppanyaki grill.

Start with an assortment of appetizers, like lightly battered Shrimp Tempura, Pot Stickers, Spicy Edamame and much more. Savor sublime sushi rolls, prepared with everything from shrimp to tuna to crab, salmon and yellowtail. Or feast on Shogun’s signature entrées while taking in a tableside Teppanyaki cooking show. Personable chefs display amazing knife skills, flipping shrimp tails, and arranging ingredients around the grill for artful presentations. Dishes include steak and chicken, yakisoba, seafood (shrimp, scallops, lobster tail) and vegetarian delights.

Shogun’s combination dinners feature New York Steak, Filet Mignon, Rib Eye Steak, Sesame Chicken, a Fish of the Day and Hibachi Scallops. Most can be paired with with lobster tail, chicken, scallops and shrimp. Top off your dining experience with a refreshing mochi ice cream dessert.

Also don’t miss trying Shogun’s various creative sakes, signature cocktails such as Karate Punch, Shogun Mai Tai and Neko, (blended until it’s the color of a Japanese sunrise), assorted flavored martinis, mojitos, beer and selected wines. Take home a souvenir Samurai Warrior or Geisha mug.

I truly enjoyed the entire dining experience, and it’s always a treat for your meal to be prepared right in front of you, fresh and hot from grill, to your plate.

I dined and ordered from the Teppanyaki grill menu, which you  can choose from steak, seafood, chicken and fresh vegetables all in a choice of combinations. I chose the filet mignon and shrimp combo and it was fantastic!

Our personal chef, Jose, demonstrated his expertise with knives and spatculas to make a delicious meal. We ordered the fried rice, rather than white rice, which I would highly recommend.

Shogun Restaurant is a perfect venue to celebrate a special occasions or for lunch or dinner.

Their unique seating around the grill allows comfort for up to eight. A Sushi Bar and Patio Dining are also available. Check out their great happy hour as well.

Easy to find at 5451 Kearny Villa Road just off 163 Freeway, just off Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.

I would recommend reservations. (858) 560-7399  or visit Shogun Kobe Restaurant at https://www.restaurantshogun.com/sandiego.php.
