Nissan Supergirl Surf Pro Competition at the Oceanside Pier!
The world's best female surfers compete in the annual Nissan SuperGirl Pro from Oct. 3-4 at the Oceanside Pier! The event is sanctioned by the World Surf League (WSL) and will likely be the only WSL women’s event in the ocean in the US in 2020. Fans will not be permitted to attend the live event due to COVID-19 restrictions, but can watch all the action via the live webcasts here. On Oct. 15, the Japanese Friendship Garden hosts Okabe Takahiro in a Zoom discussion on deep steamed tea known as fukamushi-cha. Okabe-san grew up learning tea ceremony and would later hold Japanese Tea events to promote Kakegawa tea. When opening Tea of the Men, Okabe-san served only fukamushi-cha and discovered that the best way to make Japanese tea depends on the type being served and went to learn from tea farmers and sellers and practice serving tea until they approved.
