Carlsbad 5000 Benefits Schools, Rady’s Hospital

The Carlsbad 5000, also known as “The World’s Fastest 5K,” sprints through town March 30 with more than 10,000 runners and walkers participating.
The annual road race by the sea that finishes in downtown Carlsbad features different races all morning, including races by age group, the Wheelchair Invitational, the People’s 5K Walk and concludes with elite races for both women and men.
The event also features a two-day Health and Fitness Expo, costume contest, the All Day 25K Endurance Challenge and the Junior Carlsbad, California’s largest running event for children. After the race, participants and spectators reunite for the Party by the Sea, featuring live music, dancing and a beer garden.
Event charities include the Carlsbad Educational Foundation and Team Liam, Rady Children’s Hospital’s non-profit foundation that raises funds for children’s neurosurgery. Team Liam information is at www.liamsfund.com.
