In 1927 the Pickwick Hotel hit the downtown San Diego skyline in style. By 1986 new owners came on board and realized it was time to refresh the iconic hotel, starting renovations in 2005. By 2006 the charming Sofia Hotel was born and soon after, wanting a restaurant for its patrons, Currant American Brasserie was established in 2007.
Currant, a charming restaurant with a chic bistro vibe, welcomes guests with a promise of uncompromising quality in modern American cuisine with a classic flair. An eclectic ambiance reflective of the original era with striped awnings, twinkling chandeliers and black and white tile floors, greets diners for breakfast served 7-10 a.m., lunch served 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., dinner served 5-10 p.m. and weekend brunch on both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Where everything is casual except for the food, guests can have an exceptional downtown dining experience with outdoor veranda dining all year long thanks to the wonderful San Diego weather.
